Fuji: the sweet details

Would you ever have imagined that the Fuji is the most cultivated apple variety in the world? This is not simply because of its delicious flavour, but is due to the apple growers in China, the world leaders in apple production, who grow almost nothing but the Fuji variety.
It is also bred close by in Japan from the Red Delicious and Rall’s Janet varieties. The long journey to Val Venosta has been worthwhile for the Fuji, for it feels at home in the mild climate and produces high yields.
Although the fruit sometimes looks a little pale, it makes up for this with the intensity of its flavour and one characteristic above all: it is as sweet as sugar! Fortunately, these apples stay fresh in cold storage for up to six months and are there all that time for your healthy break.
