My story
There are some truly distinctive features in Val Venosta including the meadows at Oris with their rare plants and the Croda Jenne rock face with its galleries where pure white marble is quarried. Burkhard Alber's farm is here in this special, natural world. His family purchased it 200 years ago. In 1998, Burkhard converted from livestock over to organic apples. For many small farmers at the time this was an uncertain challenge, but for Burkhard it was a practical philosophy which still governs the steady ripening of his apples today. The rhythm here allows nature to work its own magic and prevents humans from intervening and taking over. Burkhard's top quality organic Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Pinova and Idared apples are totally at ease in these traditional orchards, which also include heritage pear varieties. This natural garden is Burkhard Alber's personal retreat and he leaves it to its own beautiful devices. Because what nature does, he says, will be good for sure.
