My story
Where every year proud knights with magnificent horses fight each other and onlookers watch the exciting South Tyrolean Knights' Festival, that is exactly where we have our apple orchards with the Pinova and Bonita varieties. A regular breeze dries the soil here, providing the ideal location for healthy and beautiful fruit. The orchards are taken care of by our hard-working farm manager Tobias, who has been responsibly handling his great task for many years now. The former grassland has been transformed into noble apple orchards, which give great pleasure every year.
The soils here "on the sand" of Sluderno are very warm soils. They are very permeable to water and like to store heat, which is very good for the apple trees. Above a layer of gravel and sand lies a thick and valuable humus layer. The orchards are fed by so-called "Ziggl", deep wells that are indispensable for irrigation. Clever drip irrigation is used selectively and is of particular advantage in organic farming because the very limited pesticides are not immediately washed away but remain on the tree a little longer than with pure overhead irrigation. The many "Waale" around the orchards are not used for irrigation but decorate the idyllic overall picture and are habitats for valuable beneficial insects in our agriculture.
Our fruit farm also includes some orchards with deep red Royal Gala in Corzes near Silandro, which also provide great satisfaction. New in the assortment are only freshly planted trees of the Cosmic Crisp variety, while we are planning the extremely aromatic Topaz for the future. A jewel for every taste bud.
Always staying on the ball with diligence, sustainable management with organic farming and accompanied by the motto "Quantity alone must not be the deciding factor", this is how chivalrous virtues live on in modern times. Good manners in dealing with nature and pride in one's own work play a major role. Nature then shows its gratitude with great reliability. After all, this is what the Apple Paradise Val Venosta is known for.
