My story
In Silandro, Val Venosta’s administrative center, you can not only find Tyrol‘s highest church steeple but also Rudolf Bachmann’s apples. He has been growing the apple varieties Golden, Red Delicious and Gala in the orchards of his Franziskushof farm with organic certification since 2008. „Organic production is much more relaxed,“ says the passionate apple producer. He gained his well-grounded knowledge at the Laimburg technical college for fruit production, viticulture and horticulture in South Tyrol, which is not only a renowned school but also a research center for agriculture and forestry. Like all apples in Val Venosta, the apples of theFranziskushoffarm around Silandro grow under very special conditions: The great range of temperatures between day and night and the fresh mountain airmake sure that our apples become especially crunchy and get their beautiful red cheeks. Low precipitation as well as about 300 days of sun per year confer our apples their distinctive aroma.
