My story
Philipp Bauer's farm is close to Castello di Coldrano, which used to be the family seat of the Counts of Hendl. His grandfather was already a pioneer in fruit growing. He inherited a farm in the '30s and by 1950 he was already growing apples, which was unprecedented in Val Venosta. Today, Philipp's fields are home to flourishing Golden Delicious, Gala, Pinova, Braeburn and Idared varieties, which have been farmed organically since 1998. "At first I did not make any hasty moves; it took me time to get used to the production methods and then I had to be sure of the results." Philipp graduated from the agricultural high school in Auer and he really knows his trees. He even plants the young ones himself. Whenever the work becomes particularly intense, he is able to rely on help from his large family: his father, wife, five siblings and their children. Philipp Bauer says "I am so proud of my products because they are healthy, tasty and I grew them by hand."
