My story
Roland Feichtinger and his brother run this farm in Laudes near Malles Venosta. This is south of the Mals Heath, which is a broad, flat plain covered in meadows and fields, and Roland is one of the first here to grow apple trees. Most of the farmers nearby have dairy cattle and the Feichtinger farm is no different. In 2011, the brothers began their organic venture. They planted Pinova for its disease resistance, good yield and ability to cope with high-altitude sites when young. At the same time, they converted entirely to organic farming. Roland looks after the organisational side, whilst his brother loves the work in the open air. "I am now completely bitten by the organic bug. Although apple growing is a thrilling new area and challenge in itself, we are looking at developing other areas as well. Because organics are the future."
