My story
In our small orchard on the outskirts of Silandro, directly on the life-giving Adige river, freshly planted apple trees of the Royal Gala variety grow. To successfully cultivate these particularly crunchy apples, all my girls help out. In the process, my son-in-law is an important advisor. He introduced us to the principles of organic farming. Together we farm the small plot of land on the cool Adige river.
In the orchard we take all the time in the world to observe exactly what we see. My daughters went for walks on this fertile ground with their parents and grandparents when they were still children, with the same curiosity that still characterizes them today. Being curious is a valuable virtue. Those who are curious do not walk carelessly through the orchard, but question what is happening and why. Nature is full of surprises and as an organic farmer I work with the cycle of nature.
It is nice to be able to continue the orchard from my parents. It offers me and my family a wonderful balance to everyday life and work. Although it is small, it still takes up a lot of time. It's only worth it if all the family members give it their full support. Fortunately, this works wonderfully and the little orchard challenges us daily to be sustainable, with it and with ourselves. Just as we regularly loosen up the soil to make it airy and lively, we loosen up everyday life by enjoying the variety in our little orchard in the Val Venosta Apple Paradise. We are happy about our little orchard!
