My story
Josefsheim is a family estate in the village of Parcines which Gottlieb Huber inherited from his father. The spa town of Merano with its Mediterranean feel is close by, and the mighty peaks of the Texel Group nature park stretch up above. This is the stage set where Gottlieb farms his apples. He has mainly red varieties. In his view, "they are especially well-suited to organic cultivation and unrivaled when it comes to taste and texture". Gottlieb especially loves the days when he is under no time pressure, especially in winter when the trees need pruning. He converted to organic farming in 2006. "It was a new, demanding challenge, but at the same time it made sense for the environment and for healthy living," says Gottlieb. "I felt comfortable with organic production. And now, after all the experience of the past decades, I am convinced that there are practically no viable alternatives to organic farming."
