My story
Modul farm is in Ciardes on a sunny scree cone at the foot of the Monte Sole Mountain in Val Venosta. The Ladurner family has owned and run it for three generations and Ulrich, with his wife and son, grows Gala, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and Pinova in the area around his farm.
Continuing education courses are particularly important for him because they deepen his understanding of natural inter-relationships. Ulrich sets great store in nature's ability to provide good things. He produces apple juice and organic wine from his own grapes, and organic cherries are his next project.
Ulrich has farmed organically for a good 15 years. "Actually," says Ulrich, "organic farming was always my thing. Because I think that nature should not be too influenced by agriculture." That was the reason why Ulrich converted his business to organics in 1996. Long conversations with other experienced farmers also convinced him. Now he is completely happy with his decision. "Because I am making a contribution to keeping nature healthy for the long term."
