My story
Somewhere in my DNA, there must be written that talk is silver and silence is golden. This principle seems to be even more true since my agricultural DNA has consisted of organic elements. I’ve learnt so much from many good friends by listening carefully that I will forever be grateful to them. Because my closest friends are all organic producers like me.
I have been both a convinced organic producer and a demanding consumer since I took over my father's farm in 2011. I’m very much interested in what happens on the markets. In my view, tastings in different supermarkets are very important. There can't be enough of them. This is the only way that consumers can get a detailed picture of our apples’ quality. They can, for example, discover the wonderful taste of our Golden Delicious apples that grow much better on rather dry soil in hillside locations than on spongy, watery soil. It is much easier to explain the difference in direct talks with the consumers. And if they are then gifted with the ability of careful listening, they might remember this taste experience forever.
I have a second job as a pool attendant, where silent observation is also worth a mint. The noise of the water of the swimming pool drifting into the overflow gutter is similar to the one of the glacier water of the Senales river used for drip irrigation in my orchards where bright red Gala apples as well as wonderful Golden Delicious, Fuji and Red Delicious apples ripen between August and the beginning of October. Nature has many voices. If you listen attentively, you can also hear very quiet tones, which, however, are usually very important and entrusted secrets for organic producers.
