My story
As a teacher specializing in fruit growing at the Fürstenburg School for Agriculture and Forestry, I am very familiar with the world of fruit products. We organize and coor-dinate many interesting projects for our students. During the lessons and practical exercises, I like to pass on my experience and passion to them.
When I took over the 'Radamhof' farm in Corces from my parents a few years ago, I immediately decided to embrace organic farming. The comparison with experienced colleagues and the challenge to dare something new motivated me. I had a strong will to innovate and my parents, who were a bit skeptical at first, gradually became enthu-siastic about my plans. My father has always had an entrepreneurial approach with a clear economic vision, while my mother has always had a great sensitivity. Organic seemed to be the best choice for the 'Radamhof', also because today society rewards sustainable cultivation methods like organic and recognizes their value. Our apple orchards, then, enjoy a perfect location with optimal slopes, light wind, lots of sun and little susceptibility to fungal species. My ambition is not only to harvest healthy fruit, but also visually attractive fruit.
When I took over the farm, the trees of the Golden Delicious variety were getting old and new impulses were needed. So, I started planting new apple trees, making sure to select the most suitable varieties. Today, I grow Royal Gala, Pinova and the club apples Kanzi, Ambrosia and Cosmic Crisp. The diversity of varieties has allowed us to extend the harvest window so that we can deliver all the apples to the cooperative in the autumn, stress-free and well cared for.
Working with nature is exciting and stimulating and I am happy to have taken up the organic challenge.
