My story
When I took over the Niedermairhof farm in 1998, most apple trees were still seedlings. In the years that followed, we cut down many old trees and enlarged our assortment that today includes 10 different varieties. My harvest starts with Gala and ends with Fuji apples.
In 2018, we built 3 apartments called „Etschwool“,„Brenngoss“ and „Miehl“. So we have a second mainstay beside the cultivation of apples because we had very large losses due to frost during the last years.
Our guests have the chance to experience important moments in the year of an organic apple producer such as planting trees, picking or harvesting. I run the Niedermairhof farm together with my son Martin who attended the Laimburg agricultural school and my wife Rosmarie.
Furthermore, I’m part of Cirlano’s volunteer fire department, I go hunting and I play the alphorn in Naturno’s “Hubertusbläser“ band. An alphorn only has natural tones because there are no valves. So organic fruit production and hunt music have one thing in common: nature.
