Ruatti Simon

Organic Producer

“Enthusiasm is earth’s best fruit.”

My story

Naturno is a lively, colourful place not far from the spa town of Merano. It is ideal for a farmer like Simon Ruatti because Naturno has the highest number of days of sunshine in South Tyrol. Because agriculture was always his dream, Simon started up by renting a large, enclosed piece of land. It is surrounded by two channels of water. This is where Simon grows his apples.

The majority of his harvest consists of the Morgenduft variety which is a true rarity. The apples are grown on the last remaining high-trunk trees in the neighbourhood. Simon walks around the orchards every day, performing checks. He also undertakes a lot of manual jobs, all with a large dose of youthful enthusiasm. Following organic farming guidelines to the letter is very important to him.

Simon is convinced that this is how to produce the healthiest food possible, for humans, animals and plants alike. Striving to find the right balance is a great motivation for Simon. Organics are a challenge: intervening as little as possible, taking good care of the crop, and adopting these values as a way of life.
