My story
Norbert Stricker's Neuhaus farm is in Coldrano, near to the marble-producing village of Lasa. He inherited a part of his land from his father and uncle and he bought the rest. Norbert is a trained hydraulic engineer and solar-panel installer, but he is very clear that this is just a day job; farming is what makes him tick. Norbert's son is at agricultural high school and gives his father a hand with all the tasks on the farm. Norbert grows both red and yellow varieties, which gives him a degree of independence and ability to manage his work at harvest time better. He says that he does not like to be stressed. He enjoys harvest time and unlike many others, he gets it done in peace and quiet. Just being able to work on the farm is sufficient to soothe Norbert's mind. His orchards are traditionally planted, with peaches, apricots, cherries, plums, raspberries and strawberries, and the hens lay eggs for domestic consumption. The whole farm has been organic since 2007. It was the right thing for Norbert. He quite simply feels more at ease when he is in his orchards, and the work brings him peace and joy.
