Erhart Tapfer's farm is a proper family business in the hamlet of Stava, near Naturno. In the recent past, it was a traditional livestock farm, but now it is a small, specialised fruit estate. The orchards are laid out on Tablà hill. The main assistance here is provided by Zita, the farmer's wife. Erhart takes over the farming at the weekend because he works for the rest of the week at a drinks suppliers. On weekdays when the children are at school, Zita spends a lot of time in the orchards with the Golden and Red Delicious trees. "I love being outside!" she says. In intense periods of work, relatives help them out, especially at harvest time. Erhart and Zita's apples have been organic certified since 2007. For Zita, it's about farming with nature. "It's the only way!" and this husband and wife team are convinced of that. Farming organically is a small contribution to being able to pass on an environment in good working order to the next generation. "Nature shows us exactly what she needs and if you understand her, something profitable can be obtained, for both sides."
