My story
The Tappeinerhof farm, with its apple orchards and fields, is located in the market town of Laces, in the fertile, sunny valley floor of central Val Venosta. For over 200 years, our family has been managing the farm. My father, Peter Tappeiner, was one of the first organic producers in Val Venosta and began converting our apple cultivation to organic farming back in 1984. I continue this tradition of organic farming out of deep conviction.
Our agricultural land is situated on a sunny hillside, which is particularly well-suited for apple cultivation. Here, we grow organic apples of the Golden Delicious, Topaz, Pinova, Idared, Gala, and Braeburn varieties. Additionally, I have planted various fruit and berry species for household use—primarily varieties that require minimal plant protection and integrate seamlessly into the natural cycles of Val Venosta. I place great emphasis on healthy soil and healthy plants because only then can flavorful, healthy fruits thrive.
I love working outdoors and observing the plants and natural processes every day. This is the only way I, as an organic farmer, can manage our orchards in harmony with the laws of nature. I aim to continuously develop organic farming step by step and learn something new every day. It is essential to me to be in harmony with nature—not only in my work but also in my personal way of life.
