Organic farmer
Farm management: Rechenmacher Georg

"Only organic can be this colorful."

My story

As a part time farmer, I have entrusted all tasks concerning natural pest control to a specialist trusted by me. For all other activities in the apple orchard, I am actively involved myself. My wife and my son are also enthusiastic supporters of organic farming and work diligently in "apple plucking" and "apple picking". My apple trees are embedded in an idyllic environment which is characterized by a deliberately created biodiversity. Whether it is the Koi fish pond with maple trees, palm trees or the olive tree planted all around, or the colorful range of orange-red apricots, dark red cherries, green-yellow Williams pears and blue strawberry grapes with a forest berry aroma... We want to live and actively participate in shaping biodiversity. This is expressed in the most diverse activities. The application of natural manure as artificial fertilizer in spring, working with the back-packed motor scythe, the use of nettle water in the garden...an endless list of sustainable measures characterizes our organic farming and makes it extremely attractive: for the nature that surrounds us and for our brain, which is always in demand and must never switch to standby.

Organic begins with the smallest things, such as a hedge that is always in the way but is so full of bee life that its removal would be a shameful crime. Against nature itself, but also and primarily against my Golden Delicious, Red Delicious and Gala, who are the first beneficiaries of these bees and their diligent work. For their sake, I let the dandelion wither first and mow it only then: that way the bees have had something they like. And plenty of it. Regular soil samples determine whether the soil has enough nitrogen, and that life is thriving in it.

My late father bequeathed me our apple orchards. Thanks to the magnificent variety of other fruits, combined with my son's sugar and watermelons, which are rather unusual for our latitudes, and my green Japanese grass, we continue as colorfully as my father had left it to me. The colors alternate, like the maple trees, which first bloom red, then drift into green, while the Japanese grass does the exact opposite. Organic is colorful, with my apple trees and everything that happily hangs on them.
