My story
Just as many other apple producers in Val Venosta, I’m no full-time farmer. Agriculture, however, is more than just a hobby for me because it increases our family income and gives me a change.
I decided to grow apples of the Dalinbel variety, which was mainly bred for organic production, as it needs fewer pesticides due to its natural resistances. Above all, it’s very resistant against scab. So I can stay true to my motto: as much as necessary, as little as possible.
According to popular belief, pits of gold were found in the village of Coldrano in the past. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any of them in my leased orchards, but the work in Coldrano nevertheless fills me with great joy and I’m sure that I absolutely do the right thing. Harvest shows us every year how generous nature is. That’s worth a mint.
