My story
Angelika Tumler leases her organic apple orchards in Silandro to Stephan Kostner. His own property is also in the village and is known as "the postman's farm". It was given the name decades ago because his grandfather used to be the village postman.
Stephan runs the farm with the help of his parents. They are both retired but still enjoy working in the great outdoors with a lot of enthusiasm. Golden Delicious, Gala, Jonagold and Red Delicious are all grown here. Since 2009, the postman's farm apples have been grown with organic certification.
Stephan's decision to convert was motivated by health considerations and by conversations he had with other farmers with many years of organic experience. Now he is convinced he is doing the right thing. He says that the extra tasks involved are not a problem for him. He does not mind hard work; it is just stress which he cannot stand. Exactly like his apples. They also prefer growing according to the rhythms of Val Venosta's natural world.
