My story
My orchard is located in a very rustic area on the outskirts of Covelano, right between the Val Venosta cycle path and the Stelvio National Park. It is surrounded by a powerful forest and influenced by the pristine, natural course of the Adige River and its microclimate. The pond in my orchard provides a habitat for countless frogs, snakes, lizards, dragonflies, and various insects, not to mention for me and my family, who are privileged to use this special power spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Despite the biodiversity and the natural interplay between pests and beneficial organisms, special attention is required to protect the fruit from damage. Therefore, the orchard is fenced to keep out hares and wild animals. Mice are controlled by careful soil tillage, and new, gentle measures are continually implemented to maintain a healthy balance. The pear plantation is irrigated with a modern drip system, which allows me to significantly reduce the necessary spraying and optimally manage the quality of the fruit's internal values. I come from a farming family and have always worked with and in nature. In addition to my small organic farm, I also work as a water steward. Both activities complement and enrich each other very well.
My love and enthusiasm for my “Novembra” grew because I was looking for a niche and eventually stumbled upon this treasure. From the very beginning, I was captivated by this pear. Its robustness and easy cultivation, its impressive appearance on the tree, and its sexy waistline. The high sugar content of 12.8° Brix and the very good firmness guarantee long shelf life both at home and in storage for long-term preservation. I am fascinated by the fragrance, the sweet, tender, melting, juicy taste in the mouth, and the fact that the pear can be eaten from its green to its yellow-glowing ripe state without any loss of quality or spoilage. The diverse uses as pear brandy, compote, juice, and many more constantly drive my enthusiasm upward.
Around October, depending on whether it is an early or late year, I will again pick my “Novembra” directly into the crates to avoid injuries to the stems, so that my organic pears, can be purchased and enjoyed primarily in the local market.
