My story
Our Weingarthof farm has a long history. The first documented mention dates back to 1098. But we’ve only grown apples and wine since 1984. My father lived on stockbreeding before.
The Corzes’ meadows with their slightly steep slopes are especially suited for one apple variety: Golden Delicious. But I also became fond of other new varieties such as Ambrosia and Bonita during the last years. My favorite variety, however, is Jonagored. Our orchards and our chestnut grove are situated in Corzes and Silandro, whereas our biotope-alluvial forest is in Cengles.
My three children should inherit my farm just as I took it over from my father in 1992. For me, it’s very important to give them a possibly uncontaminated land so that agriculture can produce healthy products in future as well. Organic production seemed to be the best choice in this context and the whole family passionately backs my decision. This applies to growing apples, which are commercialized by the cooperative, as well as to producing different vegetable varieties in our garden and wine for our own consumption. Consumers of my products get exactly what my wife and me give to our children: residue-free and responsibly produced food.
