Nature sets the tone

And we play along!

If possible, then nature

The greatest helper in integrated cultivation is nature itself. Instead of relying solely on artificial pesticides, farmers encourage farm animals and insects to keep pests away naturally. Most species feed mainly on aphids and eat tens of thousands of the parasites in their approximately one year life. It is therefore no coincidence that two ladybirds represent the Val Venosta brand.

Less is more

In integrated cultivation, pesticides are reduced to a minimum. As little as possible is the motto in Val Venosta. Farmers use plant protection products only when necessary and otherwise significant damage to trees and fruit would be expected. Economical use of pesticides is in the farmers' own interest, as their use is associated with considerable costs and time.

Ecological measures

Our environment knows how to protect itself and so the Val Venosta farmers simply follow the rules of the ecosystem: With targeted measures, they ensure that the habitats of beneficial insects are preserved and that there are enough natural enemies for the pests. For this purpose they build stone igloos and insect hotels, plant flower strips and create retreats in dry stone walls and woodland.

Directives for integrated fruit cultivation

The directives for integrated fruit cultivation are drawn up annually by AGRIOS on the basis of the national guidelines and taking into account the latest findings from research and practice.

New in range: Apples from herbicide-free production

We at VIP recently brought a very special line onto the market. Our apples from herbicide-free production live up 100% to the requirements of the three pillars of quality, sustainability and service. With herbicide-free production, we want to promote bio-diversity as well as protect our water and soil for future generations. In 2019, almost a third of our cultivation area was herbicide-free; we intend to convert our entire production in the near future. After all, we are European champions in sustainable and natural cultivation, and want only the best for people and the environment.
