The Golden Delicious is a winter apple, harvested from the early September to mid-October. The sweet Val Venosta apples are eaten all year round, both raw and cooked, in juicy cakes, apple strudel and stewed.
The Golden Delicious developed from a chance seedling way back in 1890. Nowadays, it is considered one of the major varieties of yellowish green apples in the world and has already bequeathed its genome to hybrid varieties, such as Pinova, Gala and Jonagold.
