Quality messengers on the road

First class apples, from Venosta Valley to the world

Harvest

We do not pick green fruit from the tree, but only harvest when our apples pass the ripeness test in the laboratory. This means: Starch breakdown, pulp firmness and sugar content must be correct. Therefore, it usually requires several pickings depending on the variety.

Sorting

During the sorting process, each apple is photographed at least 60 times in a photo cabinet – within a few seconds. Using a computer programme, apples of the same size, colour and quality are determined and assigned to the same waterway.

Storage

The matching apples are stored in the cells in a controlled atmosphere. There the ambience is low in oxygen and, depending on the variety, at temperatures of between 0.5 and 3°C with a humidity of between 90 and 95%.
The apples are then transported to the high-bay warehouse which, according to the FIFO principle (First In, First Out), transports the apples to the packing station. This means that the goods stored first are also removed first.

Packaging & Shipping

The most common types of packaging are available in the cardboard box warehouse. Depending on customer requirements, there are different types, from cartons to fruit bowls and bags. Before dispatch, each order is carefully checked once again.
