Green packaging

What grows in harmony with nature should also be packed in harmony with nature.

The round into the square

Packaging is not just a means to an end that ends up in the trash and pollutes the environment. In the food sector, packaging fulfils important functions as it protects the apples from contamination and dents and guarantees their optimal shelf life. The packaging has to comply with all legal requirements, is an information carrier and a visual eye-catcher. It must be possible to use it efficiently during all production phases and be suitable for transport. We combine all these requirements with our claim to sustainability.

Our guidelines for ecological packaging

Renewable materials alone do not make environmentally friendly packaging. Our own team of experts pays attention to the 5R of waste management of the packaging’s design and production. The 5R stand for the following basic rules: remove (avoid), reduce, reuse & recycle and renewable. We align our holistic packaging concept - from the selection of materials to the design - with these green guidelines.

Ecological alternatives to plastic

The main material we use for our packaging is 100% FSC® certified cardboard from sustainable forestry. Our foodtainers are all made of cardboard or cardboard with grass paper. Monomaterials facilitate the recycling process and promote the circular economy. We prefer ecological alternatives for other forms of packaging. We are constantly looking for innovative environmentally friendly materials and would also like to find plastic-free versions for smaller packaging forms.

Seeing the whole picture

Costs and thus economic sustainability also play an important role in packaging: for us, for our business clients and for the end consumers. We thus pay attention to ensure that the packaging costs are proportional to the product value. Our packaging should be both economical and sustainable.
