20th South Tyrolean Strawberry Festival
Taste, tradition and fun for celebrating these delicious and healthy red fruits that are popular with young and old alike
Every year at the end of June, Val Martello turns red and a bewitching scent of strawberries is in the air, as the strawberry harvest has just started.
Val Martello, which is also called the Strawberry Valley, extends for about 30 km from the village of Laces to Lake Gioveretto at the heart of Val Venosta. Val Martello’s mountain strawberries are cultivated between 800 and 1800 m of altitudes and owe their special taste to the valley’s extraordinary microclimate: The mild and dry climate with much sun makes Val Martello an ideal area for the cultivation of excellent, high-quality strawberries that ripen more slowly and thus develop an intense aroma and extraordinary scent.
The Strawberry Festival in Val Martello is held every year during the last weekend in June to celebrate these delicious fruits. This year, the event takes places on 29 and 30 June with numerous initiatives which will animate the valley.

The festival officially starts with the famous cutting of the giant strawberry cake by the Strawberry Queen. Besides tasting a piece of strawberry cake you can look forward to musical entertainment, a farmer’s market with typical products of the Stelvio National Park, South Tyrolean specialties and inviting desserts, many of which are prepared with strawberries.
The two-day festival for the whole family awaits you with clown, play area for kids, minigolf, guided hikes along the Strawberry Trail, taster climbing courses in the new climbing hall and presentations of Val Venosta’s quality products. The festival will end on Sunday evening with the draw of the strawberry lottery.
Unspoilt nature, snow-covered peaks, fresh woods and sunny alpine pasture huts serve as a background for centuries-old churches and castles of artistic interest … Val Martello is the ideal place for a tasty weekend.

•12 noon - Opening of the festival with the tapping of the beer Forst keg
•1 pm - Strawberry tasting with the Strawberry Queen
•2.30 pm - Cutting of the giant strawberry cake
•from 3 pm to 7 pm - Musical entertainment with "Solide Oberkrainer"
•from 7 pm to 11 pm - Musical entertainment with "JungePsairer" in the marquee
•from 11 pm - Party with DJ

•10.30 am - "Frühschoppen" (beer and weisswurst) with the Tarres music band
•2.30pm - VIP game with South Tyrol’s product queens
•from 3.30 to 7 pm - Musical entertainment with "Rifflblech"
•5.30 pm - Draw of the strawberry lottery
Entrance fee: 4.00€ including a lottery ticket of 2.50€
