Ingredients
for 6 apple roses
1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
2 Pinova apples
3-4 tbsp. sugar
1 piece of butter
Juice of 1 lemon
Cinnamon powder
1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
2 Pinova apples
3-4 tbsp. sugar
1 piece of butter
Juice of 1 lemon
Cinnamon powder
Preparation
Preparing the puff pastry roses with apples and cinnamon is easy. Peel the apples, remove the core and cut into rather thin slices. Melt butter in a pan, add the apple slices and sprinkle with lemon juice. Add sugar and cinnamon.
Mix and cook over medium heat until soft and until there is no liquid left in the pan. Don’t forget to stir now and then. Cut the dough into horizontal strips about 4 cm wide and 25 cm long (not longer, otherwise your puff pastry roses may not be baked through).
Place the apple slices with a small overlap on the strips. Fold the lower part of the strip to be on the same height of the one below. Twist the strips, starting from the short end to form a rose and gently press down the ends to seal.
Place the apple roses in a buttered muffin mold. Bake in the preheated oven at 160°C for about 50 minutes and cover with aluminum foil after some 30 minutes to avoid burning. Remove from the oven, allow to cool and serve with powdered sugar.
